The Weasley China Cabinet

I’ve been pining away over a certain piece of furniture for years. And that’s not an exaggeration. Literally. Years. It’s been sitting in my favorite Little Rock store forever, and I found myself making special trips on my lunch break just to stare at it.

It’s a lovely kelly green china cabinet, very old with original turn of the century chippy house paint.

Some things we pass by in the store, wish we could have it, and then never think about it again. This was not one of those things. I had a romance with this china cabinet in my head.

I shall now admit something that makes me a gigantic dork. Not only did I love it for the color, and the shape, but I also loved it because it reminded me of something that might have been in the Weasley’s house (Harry Potter nuts will understand).

And now… it is mine. If anyone needs me I’m going to be sitting cross legged in front of it. Smiling.

Projecting

I finished a little project this week. It’s not quite as I expected it would turn out, but then again, do projects ever turn out the way I expect? No. Why? Because this is how I do projects:

“Hey, I could glue this here. No wait! Here! No, maybe glue is a bad idea. What about hot glue? Or paper doilies, I could use those. Wow, that’s a pretty bird over in that tree…”

I so admire people that meticulously plan projects out in steps.

With graphs.

And instructions.

I am not one of those people.

Oh well.

Maybe someday.

A Little Business

This post is all about business. Or…

… taking care of business.

I couldn’t help myself. Is this vanity plate not a hoot? I was like, “Elvis? Is that you?”

Anyway.

Tomorrow I’ll be at my alma mater, Harding University. I’ll be in chapel (9:00 American Studies) and then later in the day visiting with people about my book. I’m looking forward to seeing the professors in the English department and hanging around campus. Hopefully I can hold intelligent conversations about writing and books without sounding like this, “Oh. Yeah. Um. Like. Yeah.” That’s pretty much my goal in life all the time.

If you’ll excuse me I’m off to find a TCB vanity plate online. I’m thinking this would make an excellent stocking stuffer for someone. Like me.
